The Metasploit Unleashed free online course was created to fill a gap in quality documentation on the practical usage of the popular and versatile Metasploit Framework. In keeping with the open-source nature of Metasploit, we provide this resource free of charge to the information security community. Assuming very little prior knowledge, Metasploit Unleashed leads the reader through the basics of penetration testing using the Metasploit Framework exclusively, beginning with an introduction to its various interfaces and commands and quickly diving in to more advanced usage, in typical Offensive Security fashion. Since it was launched, Metasploit Unleashed has proven to be extremely popular with newcomers to Metasploit and penetration testers in general. Although challenging, our team still maintains the site and ensures that the course content is current and keeps pace with the rapid development of Metasploit.

Metasploit Unleashed is completely free and all donations that are received are donated to Hackers for Charity.

Metasploit: The Penetration Tester’s Guide

Based on the success and popularity of Metasploit Unleashed, three team members of Offensive Security, Jim O’Gorman, Devon Kearns, and Mati Aharoni, along with David Kennedy, were given the opportunity to author the highly regarded book “Metasploit: The Penetration Tester’s Guide“, published by No Starch Press.

Metasploit: The Penetration Tester’s Guide draws on the author’s collective experience in the realms of information security and penetration testing and guides the reader through the formal steps and techniques required in conducting a penetration test while using the Metasploit Framework. Rather than trying to attain the impossible goal of covering every aspect of Metasploit and its usage, the authors provide the reader with a solid foundation of knowledge in how Metasploit is built and how to help themselves when confronted with new features and changes to the framework.
